Chain Binders

Kinedyne provides high-quality Chain Binders at a competitive price to help you tighten down your heavy-duty load. Chain Binders come in many different styles and are available for different sized chains. ...
While each has its own advantages and disadvantages, all of our Chain Binders are engineered to provide heavy-duty strength needed to effectively tension your chains to create a tight and reliable hold over your cargo.
Each of our Chain Binders are engineered with strong and reliable 3/8-inch Clevis Grab Hooks. These hooks are engineered for high-quality strength and enhanced durability as they easily grab onto the chain and keep a steady grip as the Chain Binder is used to tighten down the chain and the load.
Two of our most popular Chain Binders offer different methods of tightening the chains, and your choice depends on which one you find more comfortable to use. The Lever Binder uses leverage to tension the load and locks itself in place. It’s easier to use with less maintenance. However, it is known to cause some strain on the operator, and the lever stores more energy.
On the other hand, the Ratchet Binder uses gears, handles, pawls, and end fittings, working in a ratcheting motion to tighten the chain. It takes a lot of strain off of the operator, and the handle doesn’t store as much energy. However, operating the Chain Binder is a slow and steady process that takes a bit longer.
We also offer a few of our unique Chain Binders. The Adjustable Lever Binder is manufactured for optimal strength and leverage with an adjustment feature that lets you quickly change the length of the adjustable end for an easy fit along the chain. As the name implies, our Recoilless Chain Binder is engineered so that it has less kickback when it’s unlatched. Finally, our Saf-T-Binder is designed to promote safety while offering a better alternative than using cheater bars.
Chain Binders must not be used with cheater bars or other handle extenders to tension the load. Using a cheater bar may result in serious injury to the operator and damage to the chain. When required, Kinedyne recommends the use of a Kinedyne Combination Winch Bar for Kinedyne Lever Chain Binder load release only. All Kinedyne Chain Binders are engineered and manufactured to meet the recommendations set forth by the National Association of Chain Manufacturers (NACM).

Chain Binders 101: A Guide to Chain Binders
Chain Binders 101 is part of the Kinedyne Education Series of introductory videos created by Kinedyne LLC. This series of videos is designed to teach the basics of cargo securement products: what they are, what they are used for, and how to choose the right tools for the job and more.
Lever Style Chain Binders
The Lever Style Chain Binder is a very simple machine that has fewer moving parts when compared to the Ratchet Style Chain Binder. Its formed steel handle provides quick and easy leverage. With a single, firm push, the lever takes the slack chains and uses its 3/8-inch Clevis Grab Hooks to pull the chains tightly to reliably secure the load. The lever rotates 180 degrees around the hinge, carefully locking the lever in place. Both the hooks and lever provide a non-slip grip that lets you maintain total control over your cargo. This industrial strength Lever Style Chain Binder can be used with the following sized chains: 1/4" to 5/16" chain, 5/16" to 3/8" chain, 3/8" to 1/2" chain, and 1/2" to 5/8" chain. Note that the Lever Style Chain Binder stores more energy into the handle, so be wary of possible kickback when the lever is released to loosen the load.
A handy Lever Binder Lok is also available to help secure the Lever Style Chain Binder. This special wire rope with lock plate is used to prevent the Chain Binder from opening. We offer this lock individually or in a package of two.
Ratchet Style Chain Binders
Using force to tighten down the load can put a major strain on the back and shoulder muscles. To help you out, we have our Ratchet Style Chain Binders available. These Chain Binders are engineered with a pawl, handle, gear, and 3/8-inch Clevis Grab Hooks that offer a strong grip on the chain. Very easy to use, the hands-on ratcheting operation leads to a steadier, slower loading and unloading process, putting less strain on your body while storing less energy into the handle. This process lets you easily adjust the amount of tension you want for your load.
Our durable Ratchet Style Chain Binder can be used with the following sized chains: 1/4" to 5/16" chain, 5/16" to 3/8" chain, 3/8" to 1/2" chain, and 1/2" to 5/8" chain. This Chain Binder easily locks securely when binding or releasing the chain without the need for any extra tools. You have everything you need with this Ratchet Style Chain Binder.
Adjustable Lever Style Chain Binder
This Adjustable Lever Style Chain Binder has a built-in adjustment feature for a quick and easy solution to attaining proper tension on the chain. Adjusting it is very simple. Rotate the adjustable end and extend or retract it to achieve the desired length. You no longer have to keep bouncing back and forth from one link to the next while trying to find a secure fit. This saves you a lot of time in the long run while providing a strong and reliable method for tightening down your heavy-duty chains.
The Adjustable Lever Style Chain Binder comes equipped with a lock pin for extra security, making it one of the industry’s safest binders. This Locking Pin is also sold separately. It’s a small piece of metal that can easily get lost, so we made sure to have plenty available to replace any lost pins.
Recoilless Chain Binder
When a chain is tightened, a lot of kinetic energy is stored in the Chain Binder’s formed steel handle, which can cause the handle to recoil and whip back toward the operator when it’s unlatched. Our solution to this problem is to create a Recoilless Chain Binder that has a lot less kickback to help make the tightening and loosening process a bit safer. This Chain Binder still offers maximum strength as you use it to tighten down your heavy-duty loads.
Saf-T-Binder
Kinedyne, tasked with investigating the tension that a typical Ratchet Binder can put on chain links from various manufacturers, discovered that a cheater bar and an average size driver can exhibit more tension than the actual chain can absorb (i.e. exceed the working load limit of the chain). The non-recommended use of a cheater bar can result in personal injury and broken chain. Kinedyne’s Saf-T-Binder (named for its shorter aggressive "T" handle) delivers exactly what the industry needs – a safer secure load. With the shortened "T" handle, a 120 Lbs. / 54 Kgs. force applied to the handle will result in 5,400 Lbs. / 2,449 Kgs. of chain tension. The "T" handle is the Fleet Safety Manager’s solution to eliminate the use of extenders/cheater bars.
